Things That Made Me Laugh This Week

Splitting The Difference
Nancy Greggs wrote this wonderful article providing a solution to our current political and cultural civil war. Great job Ms. Greggs, I wish I had written this, but I doubt I could have done it as well as you did. Thanks Dale for sending this my way!

The Holy Messiah Speaks To His Congressional Fan Club
Mark W. Bradley hits one out of the park with this little bit of hilarity. It’s an older article, but I just read it again and it’s still relevant (sadly) and still funny. In the spirit of full disclosure, Mark is not only a brilliant political satirist, he’s also my dad (I never claimed to be above nepotism).

Pirates and Emperors
This is kind of School House Rock for adults! It’s only a few minutes long, but beware, the song will get stuck in your head. “Pirates and Emperors they’re really the same thing!”

Welcome To Middle-Class Lockdown
Joe Bageant, as always, gives it to us straight. As hard as it is to make it into the middle-class, it is virtually impossible to get out, at least by choice.

Brokeback To The Future
YouTube has some great minds on the job, this is not political, but it is funny! Thanks to MadCat JD at Bart Cop for sending me the link.

Bush Urges End To Cartoon Violence
The article isn’t funny, but the headline (as it appeared on CNN’s web site this week) is hilarious. After reading it, I expected a media blitz of Condi, Dick, Donald and Georgie Porgy all gaggling away on the talking head shows about how SpongeBob, Jimmy Neutron, Puffy Amiyumi and the other terrible toons are causing the rise in terrorist violence around the world. “If we can put an end to cartoon violence, the rest will take care of itself.” Not any less crazy than everything else they come up with.

This is a fabulously informative and hilarious post!
I sent my letter via fax to Dr. Rick Warren who is labeled "Funding Father of the Right." I hope it makes a difference ~
Here it is and I already posted the original Beatitudes" so this is what Bush's "Sermon on the Mount" is all about, in my humble opinion, of course:
Jesus did NOT say:
“Blessed are the greedy multi-millionaires, billionaires and trillionaires for theirs is the Kingdom of only a select few and God obviously loves them more”
“Blessed are they that ignore those that mourn, for God made them better than those who are in need of comforting”
“Blessed are the entitled super-rich for they shall destroy anything and everything they choose to because they want and the Earth is NOT for the meek to inherit just because Jesus said so”
“Blessed are they which do NOT hunger and thirst after righteousness for they can only be filled with never ending money, greed and power which is clearly what God intends”
“Blessed are the unforgiving for they shall torture, punish, spy, lie, cheat and steal and be worshiped for it through the media that God gave only to them”
“Blessed are the demons for they shall pretend to see God and fool everyone with their words and Jesus’s words “ye shall know them by their fruits” is totally ignored because it does NOT count”
“Blessed are the warmongers for they shall be called the conquerors and murderers of men, women and children, the oppressors of the poor in spirit, mourning, meek, righteous, merciful, pure in heart, peacemakers and all the heathen too, because God sent his son Jesus to teach that only those who wish to kill and destroy are his chosen children”
“Blessed are they which are NOT persecuted because the sake of righteousness does NOT exist in the Kingdom of hell. Blessed are those, men who revile God and blaspheme those who truly worship the creator and creation, and they shall deceive and commit multiple acts of evil, and pretend it is in Jesus’s name. Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward NOT in heaven but in the world of men, money, greed and power, and to hell with all the prophets who were before teaching the word of the Kingdom of Heaven, because God did NOT give them as much money and power to own heaven, earth and every man, woman and child; and, God has made it perfectly well known that those who have the money rule on earth.”

As I said, in my humble opinion, those who proclaim to follow Jesus need to study the "Beatitudes," the "Sermon on the Mount" . . continued at godsmadmen . . .
